INFORMATION ALERT: ORA Files
Motion Urging CPUC to Require PG&E Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan
for Pipeline Safety Upgrades
SAN FRANCISCO, July 8, 2013 – The
Office of Ratepayer Advocates (ORA), the independent consumer advocate within
the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC/Commission), today filed a Motion urging the CPUC to direct PG&E to prepare a
Quality Assurance/Quality Control plan as part of its multi-billion dollar
natural gas pipeline safety upgrade plans.
A proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control plan on such a large project is
essential to safety and also needed for risk management purposes according to
ORA. PG&E is in the process of revising its pipeline upgrade plan approved
by the CPUC last December and is required to submit the revised plan to the CPUC
for review. ORA seeks an order directing PG&E to also develop and submit a
Quality Assurance/Quality Control plan for the pipeline safety project along
with its revised plan.
